Für viele Amerikaner ist „Make America great again“ unannehmbar.

That evening, when the father came home from work, he was very surprised because the children did not want to listen to his tale but wanted to tell him their own. That day they had been to a museum and now both were talking at the same time.

History of the technical monkey

Their teacher at school took them to a special museum. At the entrance, there was a big sign with an inscription “history of the technical monkey”. When they entered, a guide greeted them.
“My dear children! Welcome in the museum! I will show you everything and tell you the history of the technical monkey,” he began. “Have you ever been to a museum before?” The children looked at him with big eyes and open mouth and the expression on their face made it obvious to the guide that they would listen to him very attentively.
“Once upon a time, there were many tribes or better say bigger families of monkeys in all parts of the land,” and he pointed to a big map that was leaning against the wall at forty-five degrees. Many valleys and mountains, rivers and flatlands, forests and grasslands surrounded by a big ocean could be seen on the map.
“At the beginning, the monkeys lived on trees and collected the fruit they found on them,” and the guide showed the pupils a picture. “But when it rained or in winter when it snowed, the monkeys always got wet and were cold.” Some pupils put their notebooks above their heads and imitated the shivering because of cold.
The guide smiled and continued, “so one day, one of the monkeys decided to climb down onto the ground because he had discovered a cave.” Another picture on another wall showed a monkey sitting in a cave.
“At that time, when they saw lightning, they were afraid and hid in the cave. They thought that some kind of ghost wanted to hurt them. Nevertheless, once, a thunderbolt struck a tree and it caught fire. The most curious monkey went out and looked at the fire a bit closer. Of course, first he burnt himself, but then, he put a torch on the ground and laid some more wood on it.” The pupils began to laugh, one blew his hands and they looked at another picture. “Then he took a torch to the entrance of the cave and made a campfire there.” Everybody imagined sitting in the cave and warming themselves at the campfire.
“Of course, there were not enough caves for everybody, so one had the idea to build a kind of roof for himself. First, these roofs looked like tents and then they resembled to houses.” The pupils looked around them and imagined what a house meant at that time. “When they built a chimney into the house, they had tamed the fire and it wasn’t a ghost or holy soul anymore.”
Suddenly, he put his finger onto his lips. The pupils thought he wanted to tell them to be quiet. “Our lips and our mouth! What do we use our mouth for?” he asked them. “To speak!” everybody shouted. “That’s it! And why do we speak?” he continued. “We want to tell others what we think,” was the answer around him. “You are right!” he smiled, “we want to exchange information.” With big eyes and open mouth, the children stared at him. He looked around and went on, “when we want to build a big house together, we need to communicate. Peter, hold this bar! Mary, put that piece of wood over there!” The children understood that language in a simple form was invented to make it possible to work together.
“Next, they wanted to make their life easier, so they began to plant their food trees, bushes and plants around their houses. In the middle, there were houses and around them, their gardens and fields.” “The first villages!” shouted the pupils.
Suddenly on the ceiling of the auditorium in the museum, the sun, then the moon and the stars appeared. “Now, those monkeys began to think about day and night, and seasons, and as they had not been able to understand that part of nature, they imagined them to be gods and goddesses,” he looked at them and waited for questions. But the pupils were so astonished that they could only open their mouth but not talk. “Yes, you guessed right, they built temples.”
The pupils thought about churches and temples they had already seen and asked themselves how those big stones could be transported at that time, when there were no machines. The guide seemed to read in their minds, “First, those monkeys experienced that those immense stones could easier be moved on planks of wood, there they built the first sledges.” “Did they only build their temples in winter?” the pupils asked. “Good observation!” the guide replied. He put a long cloth on the floor, asked one of the pupils to sit on it and began to pull it. The pupils nodded with their heads because they had understood this part of the technique. Then he put some thick tree rods on the floor and put a plank on them. A pupil was asked to stand on it and the pulling was even easier. “Probably, this was the predecessor of the wheel,” the guide explained.

That night the father fell asleep with a satisfied smile on his face.

The father had committed a fault and had to apologize to his children. On his way home, he tried to find an appropriate tale for this occasion.

In the name of god

The monkey god was sitting on his cloud and looked down on his work. He was very satisfied and blew out the smoke of his cigar. A bit of burning ash fell to the ground and inflamed a small forest. Fast he sent some rain to extinct it. He had just succeeded and only some smoke could be seen as the wolf god from the north came by.
“As far as I can see, you are producing natural catastrophes on your playground, aren’t you?” His face was plunged in a big grin wherein the sides of his mouth went from ear to ear. “Me at least, I build big cities, factories, cars, airplanes and churches.” Having said so, their conversation was disturbed by a rocket flying through the cloud they were sitting on.
The panda god from the east appeared behind them. “Hey, guys! Have you seen that? Mine are going to conquer the stars!” The cloud staggered to his side as he sat down and the monkey and wolf had to grab hold on the sides of the cloud in order not to fall off.
The wolf turned to the monkey again, “Couldn’t you send me some raw material and cheap workforce? These animals will be well fed. There are some kinds of work my animals don’t want to do anymore.” The panda touched the monkey’s shoulder in order to make him look at him, “I will build some bridges, roads and railways on your playground and you can send me raw material.” “Don’t listen to him! He only wants power over your territory,” the wolf whispered into the monkey’s ear. The panda seemed to have guessed what the wolf had said to the monkey. “The wolf is a liar,” he shouted, “don’t you remember? For hundreds of years, he captured your subjects to make them slaves working on his plantations and now he doesn’t want them anymore.” “Do you want war?” the wolf shouted at the panda. “I will give the elephants weapons to kill your allies, the lions!”
The wolf and the panda stood opposite each other with gnashing teeth when the monkey left the cloud. For a long time, he had tried to prevent the influence of the wolf and panda on his playground but had not been very successful. He knew as well that it had not been only the wolf capturing his subjects; it had also been himself selling them to the wolf’s people for some pearls made of glass. He had got some temples built for his own comfort and to be praised by his believers, but had not developed his playground at all. Like in old times, he knew that development and education of the animals would destroy their belief in him, the monkey god. On the wolf’s and panda’s playgrounds, these gods were replaced by money. The monkey god still preferred to have a statue in a temple instead of his picture on a banknote or coin. But of course, there were advantages in being praised as the god of money as well. The animals on the wolf’s playground were democratic and created their future themselves, those on the panda’s playground had their dictators to lead them. In both cases, these subjects didn’t complain about any kind of trouble to their gods, the wolf and panda; they elected a new president or chased their dictator. In his case, the monkey god’s, his subjects didn’t dare to blame him for their misfortune. For them, god committing a fault was still unconceivable.

Of course, me, the writer supposes the children reading this tale being adult-minded and able to understand the deeper meaning of it.

When the father walked home from work, the sun was just going down in the far horizon and he remembered what he was taught at school.

Stupidity without limits

Once upon a time, there was an extinct volcano ten thousand miles below the sea. The outside walls of the volcano were as precipitous as an abyss. No other world existed for the animals, seashells, sea stars, snails and crabs, living in the crater valley. A deep-sea anglerfish gave them light.
As this fish swam very high above them, they could only see his light but couldn’t observe him. Therefore, they thought him to be their sun. Each time they saw the light, they fell to their knees to praise their sun god. When the deep-sea anglerfish was tired he disappeared in a grotto high up near one of the peaks of the volcano walls.
One day, a very curious crab wanted to know where their sun god disappeared, so it followed the light till his grotto.
When the crab had entered the refuge of the big fish, it first was shocked and frightened, but then, it looked at the big animal a bit closer and noticed that it was just a simple fish. Very quietly, it moved away in order not to wake the fish and being noticed.
Then back in the valley, it told its companions about what it had observed. The other animals were very upset. “Their god! A simple fish?” So they went up to the grotto to see it with their own eyes.
When they had reached the place and convinced themselves of their sun god really only being a fish, they got very angry and wanted to kill it saying that they didn’t need a fish as their sun god. Fortunately, there was another exit to the grotto and the fish could escape.
The seashells, sea stars, snails and crabs were loudly celebrating their victory over the big fish but from that day on, it was very dark in the valley.

The children wondered whether people could be as stupid as those deep sea animals before they fell asleep.
